The question is whether you will keep living inside the story that got you here, or begin writing a different one.
Read onYou have read the books. Attended the workshops. Hired the coaches. Set the goals, built the plans, shown up, pushed through. By every external measure, you are competent. Often more than that. People look at your life and see someone who has it together.
But there is a feeling that will not leave. A gap between where you are and where you sense you could be. Not a vague dissatisfaction. Something more precise than that. A recognition that the life you are living, the career you have built, the version of yourself you present to the world, was assembled from materials you did not consciously choose.
You are successful. And you are stuck. Those two things are not contradictions. They are the same story.
The goals that felt urgent turn out to be someone else's definition of progress. The confidence you project has a hollow centre. The decisions you make, sound as they are, come from a script you have been running for so long you forgot you were the one who wrote it.
You are not broken. You are living inside a story that no longer fits. And until you see that story for what it is, no amount of strategy, hustle, or optimisation will close the gap.
Every one of us runs on stories. Not the stories we tell at dinner parties. The deeper ones. The ones that operate beneath conscious awareness, shaping what we believe is possible, what we think we deserve, who we take ourselves to be.
These stories were not installed deliberately. They accumulated. From childhood, from culture, from the offhand remark a teacher made when you were twelve that lodged itself somewhere permanent. From the first time you succeeded at something and learned, without knowing it, that your worth was conditional on performance. From the moment you decided, quietly and without ceremony, that some version of yourself was more acceptable than the real one.
This is not a metaphor. It is how the mind actually works. The story you are running determines what you notice, what you ignore, how you interpret what happens to you, and what you believe your options are. Change the story and the entire landscape shifts.
That is the work. Not fixing what is broken. Rewriting what was never consciously chosen in the first place.
I have spent over twenty years inside the world of coaching, facilitation, and professional development. I have sat across from executives, leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals at every stage, and the pattern is always the same. The thing that holds people back is never a lack of talent, intelligence, or effort. It is the story they are living inside.
I call this work Narrative Alchemy because that is what it is. We take the raw material of your inner life, the stories, beliefs, assumptions, and patterns that have been running the show, and we transmute them. Not through positive thinking or motivational platitudes. Through genuine depth. Through seeing what is actually there and doing the precise work of rewriting it.
I draw on NLP, depth psychology, archetypal psychology, and a constellation of frameworks for working with the inner world. I am a certified NLP Practitioner, accredited in Lumina Spark and Clarity4D, and I have worked with organisations from HSBC and Airbus to the NHS and NatWest. But the credentials are not the point. The point is that I have done this work, with real people, for a very long time. And I have done it on myself.
The question I ask of you is the same one I ask of myself: what would it look like to stop living inside a story that no longer fits, and start writing the one that does?

"I have worked with a lot of different coaches and Clay really blew my mind. It takes a brilliant coach to help you identify how you get there and then get you to agree a clear, detailed action plan. Clay did just that — in a kind, compassionate and empathetic way while also challenging me."— Sandra Kanfer Clarke, Smadar Health
"It has been transformative to say the least. Inspirational, exciting, exhausting and powerful. Every second is useful and I've made massive changes in my life. I can highly recommend Coach Clay."— Aimee Mann, Manager, Entrust Care
"Clay is impossible not to love. He's warm, generous and with a natural integrity that is distinct. He cares about people, and has a clear focus for supporting them to be the best they can be. He's learned, wise and a joy to have as part of any team."— Julie Starr, Author, Speaker, Leadership Coach
"If you want to find your fire, the spark you've been missing, or if you want to finally turn your dreams into reality, get in touch with Clay. He knows how to get to the core of what gets your juices going."— Fan Lebel, Route To Love; Shadow Work Coach
This is not a programme with modules and homework. It is a working partnership. We begin where you are, with what is real, and we move from there.
A conversation. No pitch, no pressure. We talk about where you are, what is not working, and whether this is the right kind of work for what you need. If it is, we begin. If it is not, I will tell you honestly and point you toward what might be.
Using psychometric profiling, deep conversation, and the tools of NLP and depth psychology, we surface the stories that have been running beneath the surface. This is the recognition phase. You cannot rewrite what you cannot see.
The real work. We take the patterns, beliefs, and assumptions that are no longer serving you and we transform them. Not by thinking differently. By being differently. This is where the alchemy happens.
Integration. The new narrative becomes the operating system. Decisions feel different. Direction becomes clear. The gap between who you are and who you could be begins to close, not because you are striving, but because you are finally aligned.
I say this not to be exclusive but to be honest. The people who get the most from this work share certain qualities. If you recognise yourself in what follows, we should talk.
